Outdoor eats, while the sun still shines

As summer is winding down, the days of block parties and outdoor picnics are numbered, so if you enjoy those things you might want to get in on some serious action going down on Saturday. First up, Fort Greene’s Greene Grape, Interboro Spirits & Ales, and FAB Fulton are teaming up to bring you EAT Greene, an all-day block party on South Portland between Fulton and Lafayette. From noon to 7pm, swing by to sample bites from beloved neighborhood spots like No. 7, Pequena, Masala Mama, and Brooklyn Cured, as well as a whole pig roast (plus fixins) from the butchers at Greene Grape. That’s not all though–there will also be massages from Melt, a glass beadmaking demo from Urban Glass, an exclusive limited can release from Interboro, and live music to keep things lively. Alternatively, Governor’s Island is hosting the 13th annual Vendy Awards on Saturday from 12:30pm to 5pm, which means that cream of the crop street vendors from all over the city will be competing to win titles like Best Rookie, Best Best Dessert Vendor, Bad Hombres, and a People’s Choice Award. Tickets are $100 each, which includes food from over 25 vendors, as well as unlimited Brooklyn Brewery beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.
