Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way

By

On Saturday, combine your desire to do good with great food and fun at two events designed to help people who need our support right now. First, Brooklyn Brewery is hosting a giant fundraiser for Puerto Rico, which is still devastated by the effects of Hurricane Maria, at its HQ in Williamsburg from 9pm to midnight. For $40, you get access to unlimited draft beer, Puerto Rican-inspired eats and tunes, and the knowledge that you are contributing to a great cause. After Tuesday’s attack, one can only imagine that xenophobic rhetoric will unfortunately be ratcheting up around here, so it’s an important time to show your support for the refugees among us. HUBB bk’s Refugees Welcome dinner project, a pot-luck dinner where refugees and non-refugees can “break bread and break barriers,” is a great opportunity to do just that. It runs from 5:30-8:30pm on Saturday evening at a TBA location in Brooklyn and is free with RSVP, although you should bring an appetizer or dessert dish to share if possible.
