If your annual Oscar pool runs on the competitive side, you already know that the live action and animated shorts categories could very well be the difference between victory and also-ran status. Anyone can predict the Best Picture winner, but it take someone who is really in it to win it to make informed short film selections. The 2019 nominated shorts are in theaters for a limited time, and on Friday night you can bang out a double feature at Alamo Drafthouse, which is showing the animated shorts at 7:20pm and the live action at 9:40pm. So the only question remaining is: How will you spend that money you’re gonna win on Oscar night?
