Sunday in Brooklyn: Oscars Edition

By

It’s already Oscars night, and even if you think awards shows are mostly dumb and aren’t the least bit curious about what a hostless ceremony will look like, it’s still a fun excuse to get together with some friends and watch the events, the speeches, and the red carpet fashion unfold. No need for a house party either, because both Littlefield and Threes Brewing are free hosting screening extravaganzas on Sunday night. Threes will have comedians Kendra Cunningham and Stephen Shetter to provide entertaining side commentary and run Oscar-themed trivia contests (with prizes) starting at 7pm. At Littlefield, the red carpet screening starts at 6:30pm, and you will have access to free popcorn, a free glass of champagne if you rsvp, a photobooth, and traditional style Oscar pool voting ballots. I’ll tune in on Sunday for sure, but I’m almost more excited to see a matinee of Never Look Away, a new film from the director of The Lives of Others, which is still one of my all time faves. It’s currently at BAM for an extremely limited screening, which includes a 1pm show on Sunday.
