A chef’s dinner and some top-notch comedy

By

Saturday marks the inaugural installation of Industry City’s Chef’s Lab, a new Brooklyn-focused dinner series curated by Edible Brooklyn to showcase the talent of local chefs and the deliciousness of locally-sourced ingredients. On Saturday, from 5-8pm, Bonbite’s Winston Chiu will be serving up Chinese “pub fare,” the likes of which is sure to be superior to my average Friday night meal of pizza and/or whatever I find in my fridge. The menu promises geoduck birds nests, Macanese fried chicken, kasu noodles with clam broth and pea shoots, and Earl Grey Portuguese egg tarts for dessert. Tickets are $75 each, which includes special access and perks at Industry City. If you get the scoop on when the Hometown Bar B Que outpost there is finally opening, let us know! If you’re willing to skip out of dinner a few minutes early, you can rush down to Gowanus to catch Josh Gondelman, a rising comic who writes for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, regularly cracks me up with his tweets, and sometimes writes op-eds for the Times, at his 7:30pm show at The Bell House. Tickets are just $10 if you buy them here in advance.
