Food and wine fests to kick off the weekend

By

Ever wish you could expand your wine expertise beyond the old go-for-the-second-cheapest-bottle-on-the-list move? Why not check out Wine Riot, an educational wine festival happening at Brooklyn Expo this weekend? You’ll be able to sample vino from all over the world, while at the same time pick up tips from expert oenophiles, learn how to identify taste by region and varietal at interactive tasting booths, and enhance your palate at crash course seminars covering a variety of topics. You can choose from two 2.5 hour sessions on Saturday, one that starts at 2:30 and another that starts at 7:30, and tickets are $65 each.

You can also geek out over food on Saturday, at the annual Food Loves Tech festival. Held at Industry City between 10am and 4pm (and also the same times on Friday), you can sample small bites and drinks from 90+ exhibitors and peer into the future of food, like a grain bowl and salad-making robot. General admission tickets are $75 but you can save 30% off with the code FLT30.
