Bike Safety 101

By

This year has been a tragic one for city cyclists, with 18 fatalities so far, the majority of which have happened in Brooklyn. To help defend yourself as a cyclist, and gain more confidence, Bike New York offers free bike skills classes throughout the city, year round. On Tuesday night, August 6 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, they’re teaching their hour and a half Street Skills 301: Rules of the Road class, covering “how to avoid common road hazards, basic traffic principles, where to ride on the road, how to safely change lanes, how to utilize bike infrastructure, and more.” Register online and explore other courses, and read our recent story on the spike in bike accidents for more safe cycling tips.
